Archaeological Museum of Naples
A precious museum whose oneness is determined by the provenance of its finds, most of which are from Pompeii and Herculaneum and found in about two centuries of excavations, so a real museum of the territory!
Mosaics, frescoes, several daily life objects, finds from the so-called Phlegrean Fields, a charming volcanic area in Naples province and, only “foreign” collection, the Farnese one: fascinating statues collection (and not only) coming from Rome and inherited by the King of Naples Charles VIIth Bourbon in the XVIIIth century.
A must go destination: it does not matter if you choose to visit it before Pompeii and Herculaneum to get “ready” to be raped by how extraordinary they are or you choose to visit it after them, for renewing the astonishment they can leave in your mind and in your eyes!
Among my favourite: Papiry Rolls from Herculaneum, Silver Table Service from Menander House, Blue Vase, Farnese Bull, Farnese Cup, Alexander The Great Mosaic, still lives.
